The Chapel Films is a full service production company based in Stockholm, Sweden.
We are focusing on unique design-driven visual storytelling using live action, animation and any technique in-between. The main focus is commercial work but all forms of moving images are within the scope.
Our roster consists of a wide array of award winning talent, mainly based in the Nordic countries and the rest of Europe.
The Chapel was founded in early 2019 by longtime friends and colleagues Jonas Odell, Johan Edström and Niklas Adolfsson.
Johan has worked in the film and animation business for a considerable number of years and in many different places including the U.S.A., Japan, Sweden and many other European countries.
He has worked with pretty much every animation technique available such as Stop-Motion, 2D animation as well as high end CGI/3D.
Johan also has a solid experience in live action production in the fields of commercials, fiction and documentaries.
Niklas grew up in the small industrial town of Eskilstuna, Sweden, spending his teenage years dreaming of making films and getting out of that same small town.
Ending up in Stockholm in the nineties, Niklas started off in the film business by making music videos, first as an assistant and later as a producer. He then started to produce live action commercials. After having his own service production company for a number of years, he met fellow partners Johan and Jonas in 2007 at the legendary animation company Filmtecknarna, where he learned the animation trade.
Niklas worked as the sole Executive Producer at Hobby Film between 2014 to 2018 before starting The Chapel Films with Johan and Jonas in early 2019.
Jonas was one of the founders of the Stockholm based animation studio “FilmTecknarna”. He specializes in making films mixing live action and various mixed media animation techniques. In some of his more recent short films he has explored a mix of documentary, staged and animated elements.
His short film “ Never Like The First Time! ” was awarded with the Golden Bear for best short film in the Berlin Film Festival 2006. His short “Lies” was awarded as Best international short at the Sundance film festival 2009. Three of his short films have also been awarded the “Guldbagge”, the Swedish movie award.
He has directed commercials for a number of international clients including BMW, Volvo, McDonalds, IKEA and Google.
